The Southeast Asian Games silver medal-winning men's national team is set to participate in two international tournaments this year after Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. bared its proposed 2020 calendar.

After making history in the 30th edition of the biennial meet last month with its first silver medal since 1977 and first podium finish in 28 years, the men’s team will continue its development program under the LVPI starting with the 2020 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship in Thailand in April.

The men’s team will then participate in the Asian Volleyball Confederation Cup in Myanmar in August.

As part of beefing up the existing national pool, LVPI is also calling for a try-out in February. As a priority for its successful SEA Games stint, LVPI will maintain the core of the men's senior team.

Meanwhile, the LVPI also mapped out a calendar for the women’s team in the seniors, club and age-group levels.

The sports’ governing body will send a club team in the 2020 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship in China in May. A Philippine youth squad will see action in the Asian Women’s U19 tournament also in China in June.

In August, the women’s seniors squad, which looks to bounce back from a sorry fourth place finish in the four-nation SEA Games competition, will participate in the 2nd AVC Women’s Challenge Cup in Hong Kong before marching in the AVC Cup in Taiwan in September.

A selection of high school players will fly to Thailand in August to play in the 14th Princess Cup U17 Championship.

Aside from international exposures for players, LVPI also prepared a referee’s course in March and an FIVB coaching course in October.

A Unity Cup that will showcase teams from the Premier Volleyball League and Philippine Superliga is scheduled in November.
