Defending champion Ateneo de Manila University became the first team to secure a Final 4 appearance in the UAAP Season 82 men's basketball tournament.

This, after overcoming archrival De La Salle University, 77-69, on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

This was Ateneo's 20th straight game since last year, hiking their record to 10-0 in Season 82.

La Salle, meanwhile, saw its two-game winning streak ended. The Green Archers dropped to 4-5.

Ateneo won the first round encounter between the archrivals, 81-69.
