It will be a rematch of sorts for the two PSL giants who engaged in a neck-and-neck bronze medal match during the All Filipino Conference.

League-leading Petron, who finished the eliminations round with an unblemished 6-0 record, looks to return to the championship round after being booted out of title contention last conference by Cignal.

After barely catching the semis bus, Foton hopes to end an 8-conference long Finals drought while eyeing to avenge its podium loss last conference.

But arguably the most interesting piece of action will be the clash between UST’s past and present ace players.

Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Rhea Dimaculangan, both part of the España streak that last won a UAAP championship, are tipped to provide veteran smarts as Sisi Rondina, who brought the Tigresses back to the collegiate Finals after eight years, deliver the scoring goods.

The Blaze Spikers have enjoyed good numbers from Maizo-Pontillas and Rondina as of late, with the veteran opposite and the outside hitter collaborating for 54 big points during their five-set conquest of Cignal.

Taking a page from their seniors’ playbooks, Ej and Eya conspired for a 35-point output to lift Foton past Generika Ayala yesterday en route to a return trip to the semis.

The Laure sisters, who are billed to lead UST this coming UAAP Season 82, will try to power the Blue Energy anew on the most crucial stretch of the tourney after missing few games in the elims.

Action starts with Rondina-led Petron facing Laure sisters-backed Foton at the 2 p.m. curtain raiser followed by the 5 p.m. main event between Cignal and F2 Logistics. Both games will be played at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center.
