June Mar Fajardo rewrote the record books once again on Sunday, when he received his sixth consecutive PBA Most Valuable Player trophy.
It is an unprecedented feat for the San Miguel Beer center, who last year broke a tie with Alvin Patrimonio and Ramon Fernandez for the most MVP awards.
Fajardo was given the trophy during the Leo Awards that formally closed the league's 44th season at the Araneta Coliseum.
It is unlikely, however, that Fajardo's reign will extend for a seventh year as the big man will miss the upcoming PBA Philippine Cup -- and perhaps the whole season -- after suffering a leg injury in practice last February.
