Some 30 people were trapped inside the building of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – 2nd Mountain Province District Engineering Office after the structure was buried by a landslide at the height of the onslaught of Typhoon Rosita Tuesday afternoon.

The landslide incident allegedly happened at around 4:00-5:00 PM wherein a huge volume of debris that came from a mountain slope buried the government structure located along a road in Barangay Banawel, here. The said structure served as a temporary shelter for still undetermined number of evacuees and DPWH personnel who were on duty at the time of the incident.

Rescue operations are now underway for the possible rescue of the trapped individuals inside the structure.

Initially, three (3) casualties were already recovered by emergency rescuers who are in the area conducting search and rescue operations.
