Bernardo, who was nominated alongside Liza Soberano, Julia Barretto and Yassi Pressman, was declared the winner after garnering the most number of fan votes which were cast using a special hashtag.
Bernardo, who turned 23 this year, started acting at the young age of seven.
But Bernardo’s career breakthrough came when she was cast as Mara in the 2010 adaptation of the popular ABS-CBN series “Mara Clara,” which originally starred Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes.
That success led to several acting projects including the primetime 2015 hit "Pangako Sa 'Yo" with Daniel Padilla. The two of them were eventually tagged the “Teen King and Queen” and their love team is now arguably one of the most popular in the country.
However, she recently disclosed an agreement she had with Padilla that they would not accept any projects together this year. In line with that, Bernardo is currently gearing up for a movie with Alden Richards.
Held annually, the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards brings together top celebrities in the United States for a fun-filled show that honors the biggest acts and programs of the past year.
